The last day in Australia. We drove out to this place.

Open fields stretched on. The road went on without end — as if there would be no day on which it stopped.

Herds of cattle. Herds of horses.

By evening, a lake. Lake Moogerah.

The water rippled, scattered bright. The fallen sun, broken into pieces, opening on the surface.

Beautiful. This is what a journey is for.
